Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney took a knock to his ankle in the 3-2 win over Aston Villa, while Arsenal forward Theo Walcott sustained a muscle injury in the 3-3 draw against Fulham.
The duo have since been deemed not fit enough to travel to Stockholm, and they are joined on the sidelines by Tottenham pair Aaron Lennon and Kyle Walker as well as Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, who have also pulled out due to various niggles.
Hodgson has now turned to Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Gunners full-back Carl Jenkinson and Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone to cover for the quintet's absence.
The Three Lions boss had requested that Jermain Defoe and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain link up with his squad ahead of Wednesday's clash, but was informed they weren't 100 percent fit either.
