The Turkey international made his name at Borussia Dortmund, where he became the youngest player ever to start a game as well as score a goal in the Bundesliga, a record he still holds.
And since his £10million move from Dortmund to Los Merengues in May 2011, the midfielder has been a peripheral figure in Jose Mourinho's side, making only four appearances.
Despite a lack of game time, Sahin insists he wants to stay at the Bernabeu.
"Since I arrived here, it has been like living a dream," he is quoted as saying by Fichajes.
"It is one of the best clubs in the world and for this reason I do not see why I should go. I have no intention of leaving."
Should Sahin stay in Madrid, Spurs could enter the market for another long-term target Lassana Diarra, although they are likely to encounter competition from AC Milan and Spartak Moscow for the defensive midfielder's services.
