The Bavarians capped a clinical display at the Emirates Stadium to hand themselves a great chance of progressing to the quarter-finals of this season's UEFA Champions League.

But Schweinsteiger was quick to stress the importance of the second-leg fixture in a fortnight's time, claiming the tie is far from over.

"We mustn't underestimate Arsenal, they have some very good players, and we'll have to give it 100 per cent in the return," he told Bayern's official website.

"Arsenal aren't just dropping by as tourists. It's a good result, but it's not over yet."

The 28-year-old did concede, though, that his team were very good on the night, executing a perfect game plan for a European away tie.

"We really got going well, especially in the first 30 minutes, when we let the ball and our opponents do the work," he added.

"We were ruthless, especially in terms of taking our chances, but the third goal was vital too."
