The Gunners face a tough task overcoming the Bundesliga leaders after their disappointing FA Cup fifth round exit to Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Arsene Wenger's men currently occupy fifth position in the Premier League standings, four points behind north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in fourth, despite being unbeaten in the last four in the league.

It has been a season of inconsistencies for the north Londoners with displays ranging from complete dominance to utter misery, while some sections of the club's fans are apparently beginning to become disillusioned with Wenger's management of the club.

The Gunners have a bit of a concern at left-back for the clash on Thursday. With Andre Santos on-loan at Gremio in Brazil and Kieran Gibbs still sidelined with a thigh injury, while new boy Nacho Monreal is cup-tied having played for Malaga in the group stages of the competition.

Meanwhile, in Germany, the Bavarians have basically wrapped up the domestic league title with 12 league matches remaining.

Bayern have been totally dominant this season, illustrated by their league record of 18 wins, three draws and one loss so far.

Die Roten, who have not lost a match since October last year, will be keen to put their 2012 Champions League final defeat to Chelsea behind them and claim the trophy this season, with Jupp Heynckes set to retire in July.

Javi Martinez missed Bayern's 2-0 away win over Wolfsburg on Friday, but could return to the squad in time to face the Gunners.

Claudio Pizarro (illness) and Holger Badstuber (knee), however, will not be making the trip to London with their respective injuries.

Jerome Boateng, meanwhile, is ineligible after his red card against BATE Borisov in the final Champions League group game in December.
