The Bundesliga side travel to London on Tuesday evening to take on an Arsenal side looking to bounce back from a disappointing FA Cup defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
And the German international has claimed that past disappointments, including last season's cruel final defeat to Chelsea on penalties, have made Die Roten even hungrier for success this season.
"We are hungry to win the Champions League," he told the Daily Mail.
"This team have been to the final twice and didn't win.
"We have more experience and we're moving towards our aim. Compared to the final against Chelsea [last season], we are stronger.
"We have more good players and we are stronger on the bench. This is a crucial point."
The midfielder is aware of the challenges involved with winning Europe's most prestigious club trophy, but feels the Bavarians have as good a chance as any as the tournament approaches the May final at Wembley.
"Five or six teams in Europe are candidates to win the Champions League and we are one of them," he added.
"I know most of Europe do not want to play against Bayern Munich.
"We have gained a lot of respect during the last four or five years, but we have to win against Arsenal before we start to think about this."
