Former German internationals Olaf Thon and Gunter Netzer criticised the midfielder, with Thon claiming that the 97-capped international's influence is waning, while Netzer believes that Ilkay Gundogan poses a legitimate threat to Schweinsteiger's national team place.
Kroos, however, dismissed the duo's remarks, saying: "I have not followed it very closely, but it always depends on who says something and how much weight it carries. A lot of people comment on certain things."
Thon also claimed that the Bayern Munich star has lost a yard of pace, something Kroos believes was never a major weapon in his team-mate's armoury.
"I have hardly ever seen Basti beat an opponent, throughout his entire career," he added. "He is a different type of player, who's important with his passes and his mere presence. Very few players in his position dribble a lot. So this is all nonsense for me.
"Basti is in fine form and put in a great performance against Schalke. This will not distract him."
