The 21-year-old has been with the Rothosen since 2011, and he has now indicated that he may remain at the Imtech Arena.

This, despite falling down the pecking order in his second season at the club.

"Our boss and our general manager have indicated to me that I will be here for a long time to come," Bruma told Hamburger Morgenpost. "They want me to pen a contract for several years."

Hamburg general director Frank Arnesen, formerly of Chelsea, said the club still had "one too many" centre-backs.

However, Bruma is keen to take his chance if given, as he mulls over the decision to make the move to Germany a long-term one.

"I needed to be very patient. I hope I will be playing now and can take the chance," the Holland international added. "I need to play to develop, but of course I am delighted that a club like Hamburg wants to keep me."

Bruma has made 32 appearances for Hamburg so far, scoring two goals.
