As the winter break nears its end and the teams return to training, the Bavarians are top of the standings in the German top flight with a comfortable nine-point lead over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
However, the 22-time Bundesliga champions did let an eight-point cushion over Borussia Dortmund slip last season, losing out to Die Borussen for a second time in as many years, something Heynckes is keen to avoid this time around.
"We are heading in the right direction, but we have got to carry on this way consistently," the 67-year-old told Bayern's official website. "The Bundesliga title is the priority which we are aiming for with all of our strength."
In terms of silverware, there has been a bit of a barren spell in Munich since 2010 and Die Roten are in a prime position to end the drought with a league title.
While the Bundesliga seems the likely avenue for a trophy this season, the Bavarian giants are also still competing in the European and the domestic cups.
"What happens in the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal, we will just take it as it comes," he added.
