Schalke have sacked Huub Stevens as their coach following Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Freiburg which extended their winless run in the Bundesliga to six games.

The Royal Blues have slipped out of the UEFA Champions League places to seventh after taking just two points from their last six league matches.
The Gelsenkirchen outfit are still occupying the final Europa League spot heading into the winter break, while they secured their passage to the UEFA Champions League knockout phase as Group B winners.
However, the recent bad run domestically as led to Stevens' dismissal, with youth-team coach Jens Keller handed the reins for Tuesday's DFB-Pokal clash with fellow European hopefuls Mainz.
"I can understand the question coming, but right now after this defeat at home, I have got to gather my thoughts and think of how we can approach Tuesday's game so that we can go through," the club's director of sport Horst Heldt said after the game on Saturday.
"All other questions will be answered when the time comes."
