The Wolves relieved Felix Magath of his coaching duties last week following a sluggish start to the new season, with the club languishing in the relegation zone after losing five of their opening nine league games.
Lorenz-Gunter Kostner was subsequently handed the reins on a caretaker basis for a second time - he took charge of the team in 2010 for six months after Armin Veh had been sacked.
Kostner guided the Saxony outfit to a 4-1 victory at Fortuna Dusseldorf in his first game at the helm on Saturday and followed it up with Wednesday's 2-0 success over Frankfurt to progress to the last 16 of the DFB Pokal.
Commenting on the warm reception he received from the fans, the 60-year-old said: "Certainly, that is nice. That is also nice for the team. We need to grow together and it shows them I am no coach of the past, but one of them."
However, Van Marwijk, who spent two years in Germany as coach of Borussia Dortmund between 2004 and 2006, has been linked with a permanent role at the Volkswagen Arena and the Dutchman admits it would be an interesting proposition.
"I would love to return to club football," he told Kicker. "I believe the Bundesliga is on par with Spain and England. Wolfsburg is one of many interesting locations in the league."
