Following Monaco's shock loss at home to Valenciennes on Friday evening, Les Parisiens are guaranteed top spot regardless of the result when they face title rivals Lille on Sunday evening.

And Blanc, who has seen his side lose just once in their first 18 league matches this season, believes his side are where they belong.

"It would be a good thing to occupy first place on Sunday evening," Blanc said in his pre-match press conference.

"We have tried to take as many points as possible and have been in the lead for much of this season. This title (of autumn champions) is deserved, even if the most important thing is to be in first place after the 38th matchday."

The former France boss also predicted a tough outing against Les Dogues at the Parc des Princes and admits they will need to be at their best if they are to claim all three points against the best defence in the league.

"Lille are one of the best teams in the league," the World Cup winner added.

"They won many matches 1-0 because they can rely on a goalkeeper (Vincent Enyeama) who has been huge so far.

"Like every team that comes to the Parc des Princes, Lille will try to put us in trouble.

"They are a tough team to play because they keep the ball. This is why they concede so few goals."
