The 31-year-old only joined the Hammers in August, but struggled for game time in west London and eventually fell out with manager Sam Allardyce.
He recently told L'Equipe: "Yes, I want to go. It's breaking point. With the current coach [Allardyce], it is impossible. There's no dialogue, no explanation. At West Ham, I wasted my time."
And following just six appearances for West Ham this season, and only one in the Premier League, the France international has made a return to Ligue 1, where he previously played with Marseille before joining the Premier League side.
