Schalke have completed the loan signing of Lyon winger Michel Bastos on an 18-month deal at the Bundesliga outfit.

Bastos signs hot on the heels of Lewis Holtby's imminent departure to Tottenham, and will provide the Royals Blues with more options in midfield.
Speaking on the loan signing, which is reported to include an option to buy, Schalke general manager Horst Heldt said: "We are delighted that Michel Bastos joins us.
"He is a player with experience on the international level with special skills. He can instantly help us. Moreover he is eligible to play Champions League."
The news of Bastos' eligibility for the UEFA Champions League will provide a timely boost for Jens Keller's men, given that fellow January signing Raffael is ineligible to play for the Miners in the tournament this season.
Earlier reports suggested that the deal for Bastos would become permanent were Schalke to attain automatic qualification for next season's competition, but those rumours are still unconfirmed.
