The ever-controversial Real Madrid boss implied on Monday that El Clasico fixtures are soured by the Catalans' perceived "lack of sportsmanship", instead of focussing on playing good football.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of their Copa del Rey semi-final second-leg, the Portuguese quipped: "I prefer to stay with the lessons we have received in the past from Barcelona.

"Lessons in sportsmanship, how to be in football. Not talking about the referees, not surrounding them, trying to get opponents booked."

"And, of course, giving lessons on how to play football, they do that very well. They would be well advised if they humbly followed that line," he sarcastically added.

Fabregas, however, has taken the moral high ground, stating the Blaugrana always prefer to do their talking on the pitch.

"As a team we don't like to complain to the press," he said at Tuesday's press conference. "There are things that need to be said, but we've always said those things on the playing field."

And the midfielder was keen to subtly stress the point, contrasting the differences between Mourinho and their very own Lionel Messi.

"Leo doesn't say much in press conferences or in press areas, he talks on the pitch. He's very strong mentally and physically. He wants to play, have fun and win," he added.
