Messi has been in prolific form for the Catalans, having scored 49 goals in all competitions since the start of the 2012/13 campaign.
His goal against Sevilla on Saturday also extended his record goalscoring run to an incredible 15 consecutive La Liga matches.
However, the four-time Ballon d'Or winner believes he performs better the more he plays, and feels that taking a break would be detrimental to him and Barca.
"For years now I've been used to playing a lot of matches. My body feels better if it doesn't rest," he told Barca TV. "The most important thing is to win matches. If I can help with goals, then that's always better."
The 25-year-old also gave his thoughts on the Blaugrana's achievements in recent years, and said he thought that it would be some time before they received the credit he felt they were due.
"The dynamic of competitive football doesn't allow us to enjoy what this team is achieving, but maybe in the future it will be given the credit it deserves," Messi added.
