Fabregas was quick to stress the importance of the game against the Rossoneri, but is hoping Barca can take advantage of what he perceives as a 'lack of quality' in the Milan side following previous high-profile departures.

"Well, obviously when you lose two key player likes Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva there's obviously a lack of quality in the squad," he told the club's official website.

"[But] I think the games against Milan are always difficult. Last year we also played in the quarter-finals against them, and it's one of those exciting games.

"They have a great history in the Champions League, great players, great fans, and it will be a very difficult one.

"But we just have to focus that it will be a very important game and we need to be at our best if we want to go through."

The midfielder is all too familiar with the famous San Siro Stadium, having recorded a famous 2-0 away victory with Arsenal back in 2008.

He will be hoping to draw on his good memories to spur the Blaugrana on to victory, but knows his team will be up for a fight when they take the pitch on Wednesday.

"Well I think San Siro is one of the most amazing stadiums I've ever played in," the 25-year-old continued.

"Obviously I have great memories of when I was at Arsenal, of what we did there, which was amazing.

"But obviously it's one of those stadiums that you step in there and you think: 'Wow, it is going to be an exciting game', and you feel it's the Champions League, you feel you want to be there playing.

"And obviously, once you get in that stadium, you have to mean business if you really want to win."
