This is Madrid's chance to temporarily close the gap on the second-placed Atletico Madrid, who have 47 points, four more than Jose Mourinho's men.

The Portuguese boss will, however, be without goalkeeper Iker Casillas and defender Pepe for this clash, and there is a possibility that Sergio Ramos also won't start, giving Raphael Varane another chance.

Varane received rave reviews after a polished performance against Barca at the Santiago Bernabeu, blocking out Lionel Messi and scoring a goal to keep his side the Copa del Rey as the semi-final first-leg match ended 1-1.

It will be a baptism of fire for new Granada coach Luca Alcaraz who's side must keep Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Mesut Ozil quiet if they are to get something out of this tie.

Alcaraz joined the relegation-threatened side earlier this week.
