While at Barcelona, Guardiola endured some heated encounters with Real Madrid counterpart Mourinho during their three-year rivalry in La Liga.

Klopp has revealed his excitement at the prospect of going toe-to-toe with the celebrated Spanish tactician when their two teams commence battle in 2012/13.

"I want to become Guardiola's new Mourinho," the 45-year-old German told Sport Bild. "We want to be an unpleasant opponent for Bayern in the next few years.

"If Pep Guardiola doesn't like me during the game or because of the result, that's not a problem."

Klopp, however, is confident the potential rivalry will always be conducted in good faith, claiming he never believed that Guardiola and Mourinho shared any animosity towards one another.

"I do not believe that Pep has bad feelings toward his rivals, though," added Klopp. "I think that I will get along very well with Pep. I have a good relationship with Mourinho as well."
