Xavi was part of the history-making Blaugrana team which won a treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League titles in the 2008/2009 campaign under Pep Guardiola.
But the Spain international believes this term's Barca has all the hallmarks of a side capable of repeating the feat following their record-breaking first half of the current Spanish season.
"The team is very competitive and we want to do well in every competition. We'd like to win the lot but we have to watch our step," Xavi told FIFA's official website.
"The talent is there for sure [to have another historic year], but we need luck to be on our side too."
Under Vilanova, who recently returned to the dugout after undergoing surgery to treat parotid cancer, Barca have amassed 55 points from a possible 60 in the Primiera Division so far.
Their remarkable unbeaten run, though, came to end at the weekend when they went down 3-2 at Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Xavi, though, will be hoping the Catalans can carry their impressive domestic form into Europe when the competition resumes on February 20, with the Blaugrana taking on AC Milan in the last-16.
On their encounter with the Rossoneri, Xavi added: "They're a tough side. They keep it tight at the back and they've always made life very hard for us defensively.
"San Siro is not an easy place to go to either because the fans are very passionate. And if you look back through history you'll see that they've won more European Cups than us.
"They might not be at their best right now but they always have players who can make life hard for you."
