Ronaldo's future has been clouded with speculation, ever since he claimed to be "sad" for professional reasons earlier in the season, while Spanish newspapers such as AS claim that the 27-year-old will not be renewing his contract with the club.

Ronaldo's current contract runs out in 2015 and Madrid could risk losing their star forward on the cheap, with possible destinations including, newly-rich Paris Saint-Germain and former club Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Spanish defender and team-mate Albiol is hoping that a move for the 50-goals-a-season striker does not materialise.

"I don't know if he's going to renew his contract or not. But Cristiano Ronaldo is the best in the world and we want him by our side as long as possible," he told SkySports.

The 27-year-old defender is also keen to move on from the controversy caused by coach Jose Mourinho, after the Portuguese dropped Iker Casillas from the starting line-up before Madrid 3-2 loss to Malaga.

"After 10 years as a starter, the day that Casillas was a substitute surprised everybody. But I think the controversy was too much. Even Iker said that.

"We must forget these things that happen outside the club and do our best to win things in 2013. Mourinho took the decision and that's that.

"We will continue training to be at our best level. We must be united. We all want the best for Real Madrid."
