Falcao, who has been linked with a £50million move to either Real Madrid, Manchester City or Chelsea, feels indebted to Cerezo, who has been instrumental in his rise to becoming one of the best strikers in the world.

The Colombian hitman has scored 20 goals in 17 appearances for Atletico this season and spearheaded them to Europa League glory at the end of the last campaign.

And he has ruled out making his move in the upcoming January transfer window.

"I recognise the great effort made by (Atletico president) Enrique Cerezo for me to stay at the club," he said.

"I thank God our results have been so positive and that we have done so well this season so far. My expectation is that I will be staying at the club until the end of the season."
