Real saw their cup run for this season come to an end against Celta Vigo in midweek as Jose Mourinho had opted to rest several of his first-choice players.

Los Merengues are third in the standings, but sit 11 points behind leaders and bitter rivals Barcelona with 15 league matches played this season.

The likes of Sami Khedira, Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso are set to return to stiffen up Madrid's defence, while Mesut Ozil should come back to play the supporting striker's role.

Iker Casillas should also be back between the sticks, while Fabio Coentrao continues to fill in at left-back with Marcelo (foot) still out.

Espanyol, meanwhile, face a tough task in getting anything out of the tie, with the side currently second from bottom on the Primera Division table.

Christian Stuani will be tasked with finding the goal for the visitors, while Juan Forlin, Diego Colotto and Cristian Alvarez will line up in the middle of the park.
