La Furia Roja have been the dominant side on the international scene since a reform in the way they play in 2007.

Since then, they've won Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012, becoming the first side to successfully defend the European title.

The next challenge lies in Brazil at the 2014 World Cup, where they will look to defend their world championship and win a second succesive title.

The Spanish national team captain believes that winning the Cup in 2014 would cap off the most successful era in Spanish football, as several senior stars might call it a day on their international careers thereafter.

"We are talking about a second consecutive World Cup, as happened with the European Championship," he said. "It is not as easy as people think.

"La Seleccion will be a favourite. If we win it would be a great finale for a national team which has won everything. Maybe for more than one player it would not be the same afterwards.

"There will be players who decide it is a natural end to our era and we would leave it for the youngsters."
