Valencia have announced the appointment of Ernesto Valverde as their new coach on a deal that runs until the end of the season.

Valverde fills the role left vacant by Mauricio Pellegrino's sacking following Saturday's 5-2 defeat at home to Real Sociedad.
The 48-year-old has had relatively short stints as coach of Athletico Bilbao, Espanyol, Villarreal and two spells with Olympiacos.
Valverde won three Greek league titles as well as finishing as runners-up in the then-named UEFA Cup in 2006/07 while in charge of Espanyol.
