The former Inter Milan striker has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the Rossoneri after completing a medical earlier on Wednesday.

And with his days at the Manchester club set to come to an end, the capricious striker has sent a special message to the City faithful to thank them for their support during his time at Eastlands.

"I will always have a very special place in my heart for City, it's a great club with a great future," he told City's official website.

"I thank them for all of their support for me. Maybe one day we will see each other again."

The 22-year-old admitted it was difficult to say goodbye to his teammates and coach Roberto Mancini, and expressed his gratitude for his manager's instrumental role in his development.

"I said goodbye to everyone at the meal in London before the game at Queens Park Rangers. It was very emotional for me," Balotelli said.

"I spoke with Roberto [Mancini] before I went to speak to the players. We spoke for some time about lots of things.

"He was sad, and I was too. But it was a good conversation. I love Roberto, he has been very important for my career, and I will always thank him for having trust and faith in me.

"Being at City was an important part of my life and career. I needed to grow up like a player and as a person and it has been a very good experience for me."

The Italian marked victory in the 2012 Premier League as the highlight of his spell in England, and will now be joining his boyhood club in the hope of fulfilling his potential as one of the world's brightest striking talents.

"I think to win the Premier League was a very special moment, and I am proud to have been a part of that," he added.
