The 23-year-old, who started his career at Internacional before making the switch to Europe with the Rossoneri in August 2007, has been linked with a return to his homeland following a lack of first-team opportunities at the Serie A club this season.

Timao president Duilio Monteiro Alves revealed last week that he was preparing to make a move for Pato and that he expected a deal to be finalised in the first week of the New Year.

The Brazil international's agent, Gilmar Veloz, claims an agreement has now been struck after Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani reportedly jetted off to Sao Paulo to discuss a transfer.

Veloz told Sky Sport 24: "Pato has chosen Corinthians. Since he decided to return to Brazil, Corinthians was the first choice.

"I understood Pato needed to leave to experience another club and he chose Corinthians. And Galliani understood his reasons.

"Corinthians have welcomed him well, and they are doing everything possible to help [Pato] settle in.

"There are still some details to be resolved between the two clubs. But it is not for me to speak what exactly they are."
