Francesco Ianiari and Mauro Pinnelli were taken into custody after being identified by witnesses and CCTV cameras for inflicting serious injuries to three Spurs fans.

The duo, thought to be members of the Lazio 'Ultras', were subsequently charged with aggravated assault, with the incident initially believed to be tied to the Europa League clash against the Biancocelesti.

However, Ianiari and Pinnelli have been established as Roma followers, while the attack seems to have been part of an extremist rally held in the Eternal City last Friday.

In a statement released on Thursday, the superintendent of Rome, Fulvio Della Rocca said he had "considered the circumstances of the facts" before dishing out the lengthy suspensions, which encompass all football grounds in Italy.
