The 28-year-old spent six incredibly successful seasons at City's bitter rivals Manchester United, a spell which saw him win the Ballon d'Or, as well as numerous titles with the Red Devils.

The Portuguese superstar left for Real Madrid in 2009 and was recently linked with a return to Old Trafford after reports claimed he was unhappy with life in the Spanish capital.

He would undoubtedly be welcomed back with open arms, however, Ronaldo has since refuted claims that he is ready to leave Los Blancos, despite not ruling out a possible return to England.

"I am a player of Real Madrid and I'm happy here, my family is happy and everything is going well for me here. The future? I don't know - only God knows the future," he said.

"I can't say I'm never going back to Man United - but I can say I'm good here and I want to be here. Let's leave it at that and see what God gives me in the future - but I repeat I am happy here."

When asked about the chances of joining City, Ronaldo claimed nothing is impossible, but added that due to his ties with United, it is unlikely the deal would ever materialise.

"I'm not going to say it is impossible, because in football the impossible doesn't exist," he added.

"But I can say it would be very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very difficult to play at Man City. Very difficult because of Manchester United."
