The Potters made the breakthrough midway through the first period as James McCarthy headed Charlie Adam's free-kick up into the air, with the ball eventually falling for Ryan Shawcross to volley home from six yards out.

Three minutes after the restart the hosts grabbed a second as Ali Al Habsi could only parry Adam's shot into the path of Peter Crouch, who came sliding in to put the ball home.

Two minutes later, though, the Latics halved the deficit following some wonderful build up play from Roger Espinoza, who provided a perfect through-ball for James McArthur, who curled home a wonderful effort with the outside of his boot.

With 61 minutes gone the visitors completed the comeback, Maloney turning provider to head Shaun Maloney's far-post delivery back in for Franco Di Santo to turn and volley home.

The result left Stoke 10th in the standings with 30 points, while Wigan climbed out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
