The England International has scored in all three games he has played for the Reds so far and Rodgers believes the former Blues man's eye for goal offers the team more of an edge in attack.

"Daniel has got great presence in the team and it gives any team confidence when you know you've got goalscorers in your group - you've got a chance to win games," the Northern Irishman told Sky Sports.

"We've actually played exactly the same system we've played before but good players make that system richer. Good players can read each other, players with intelligence can move and play with each other."

Rodgers added he feels the 23-year-old's arrival at Anfield has given his squad a notable boost as they try to push for a European spot in the second half of the season.

"Good players want to play with other good players and we've brought in an exceptional player. I think he's given them a lift.

"The reason I brought him in is because he is a goalscorer and a box player. It is exciting to see and he will only get better."
