The FA upheld Kompany's wrongful dismissal claim for the incident at the Emirates, following a hearing by an independent commission on Tuesday.
The Belgium international received his marching orders from referee Mike Dean a quarter of an hour before the final whistle on Sunday, but replays revealed the defender clearly won the ball before crashing into Jack Wilshere.
Although Kompany's lunge at Wilshere could be interpreted as a dangerous tackle, City were quick to launch their appeal after the match.
Had the appeal failed, the Belgian would have faced a three-match suspension, placing pressure on Roberto Mancini's thin squad, already without Sergio Aguero and the Toure brothers.
A statement from the FA read: An independent regulatory commission has today upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal regarding Manchester City's Vincent Kompany.
The defender was dismissed for serious foul play during his side's match against Arsenal on Sunday 13 January 2013.
As a result, Kompany's three-match suspension has been withdrawn with immediate effect.
