Centre-back Ryan Shawcross and right-back Geoff Cameron picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season in the 3-1 defeat of Liverpool on Boxing Day and will be banned for one match.

Matthew Upson is expected to take Shawcross's place while utility man Ryan Shotton is likely to deputise for USA international Cameron.

The Potters are on a magnificent eight-match unbeaten league run which includes victories over Newcastle, Fulham, Liverpool and QPR.

Meanwhile, the Saints will once again have to do without their captain and creative force Adam Lallana, who has not featured since he picked up a knee injury against Reading on December 8.

Southampton climbed out of the relegation zone with a 1-1 draw with Fulham on Boxing Day and will be looking to continue their promising recent form which can be put down to a new-found defensive solidity.
