Ba has been in excellent form this season, scoring 11 league goals, and reportedly has a 7 million-pound release clause in his contract.
Not least of those courting Ba is North London club Arsenal, who seemed to be in the driving seat to sign the 27-year-old. Ba himself did little to limit speculation, calling the Gunners "a club that makes you dream."
However, much to the relief of Newcastle fans, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has seemingly ruled out a move for the former West Ham hitman in January.
"It is not right to speak about [Ba] because he plays against us [on Saturday], If you ask 'do we [want to] sign him?' I say no," he told Sky Sports.
The Frenchman also gave little away when asked about the possibility of signing Spain International David Villa, who has been struggling to get into the Barcelona team under Tito Villanova.
"Any interest we have in any player has to be kept secret so I cannot come out with any names."
The 63-year-old did however hint at a possible return of Thierry Henry, who has been training with the club during the Major League Soccer off-season.
"I have not lost interest in him [Henry], he is still coming today to practise with us. I have not ruled out a move completely."
