Mancini: Not overly concerned

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini insists his side have plenty of time to make up the seven-point gap that rivals Manchester United have opened up on them in the Premier League.

City lost 1-0 to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Boxing Day, while United defeated Newcastle 4-3 leaving Sir Alex Ferguson's team in a commanding position at the halfway stage of the season.

But Mancini, who guided the Citizens to their first league title since 1968, is confident the title race is far from over.

He said: "It hasn't changed. At this moment, United are better than us, they are at the top, but we have time to recover.

"We need to resolve our problems before and after, maybe we can win. It's no problem, seven points.

"That's not important. We know United are a fantastic team and probably they will win every game, but the season is long and it is not important if it is six or seven or four points."

The Italian was, however, disappointed that Adam Johnson was able to prove the difference with his 53rd-minute shot that somehow squeezed under Joe Hart, after Craig Gardner appeared to have fouled Pablo Zabaleta in the build-up to the goal.

Mancini added: "How the referee can't see that foul, I don't know.

"The referee ate too much for Christmas. He was not in good form. He and the linesman, I think, after Christmas, it can happen to have a bad performance like today."
