The Royals have been woeful during the first half of the season, losing each one of their last seven fixtures in the league.

Brian McDermott's side seemed set to snatch a draw at Manchester City on the weekend, but were denied by a last-gasp header from Gareth Barry.

McDermott looks set to continue with Jem Karacen in the side, after the midfielder returned to action against the Citizens. Danny Guthrie, who was on the bech for the defeat on Saturday, could make his return to the starting line-up.

Alex McCarthy will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, while Jason Roberts (hip) and Sean Morrison (ankle) are also long-term injury concerns.

The Swans come into the match fresh off a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.

The Welsh outfit made a flying start to the campaign, but have been found it harder to get results of late. They have failed to win in their last three in the league, losing two in that stretch.

Michu shrugged off a knock sustained against Tottenham to start and score against United on Sunday, while Michel Vorm made his return to goal after a lengthy lay-off.

Pablo Hernandez and Angel Rangel could be in line for their return after failing to be fit for the clash against the Red Devils.

Neil Taylor is still on the road to recovery after breaking his ankle at the start of September.
