Spurs saw bitter rivals Arsenal and high-flying Everton leapfrog them into third and fourth respectively after the north London side were unable to bring an end to the Potters' seven-match unbeaten streak.
Villas-Boas, though, feels plenty of credit is due to Tony Pulis' men for holding his Tottenham side for the 90 minutes.
"It is difficult to break them down. We tried everything from the first minute but Stoke proved why they are on a magnificent unbeaten run," he said after the clash.
"It's difficult to create chances against them. We had lots of possession and lots of shots from outside the box, but we can't be negative because we gave it a go.
"We tried to get the three points but we couldn't do it today."
