The Canaries are on their best-ever run in England's top-flight and are now unbeaten in ten games, winning their last five at Carrow Road.

Anthony Pilkington got Chris Hughton's side off to a flying start when he latched onto Hoolahan's through ball to send a fierce left-footed shot into the top corner.

Norwich oozed confidence but almost conceded shortly after the goal when James McArthur was allowed room to shoot from 20 yards, but his effort was well-saved by Mark Bunn.

Pilkington should have added a second as he missed an open goal from close ranger after Ali Al-Habsi had flapped at Robert Snodgrass's cross.

Roberto Martinez made a double substitution at half-time and the changes paid off instantly for the Latics. Shaun Maloney, who came on for Jordi Gomez, pulled them level after 51 minutes when he met Arouna Kone's lay-off and buried a shot in the top corner from the edge of the box.

But Hoolahan had the final say in the game as he headed home from Pilkington's cross after 64 minutes to restore Norwich's lead, marking his new three-year contract at Carrow Road perfectly.

The Canaries came close to putting the game beyond doubt when Bradley Johnson saw his shot tipped onto the post, while Pilkington also had an effort saved spectacularly by Al-Habsi.

There was a late chance for Wigan to snatch a draw when Kone went through on goal but Sebastien Bassong came to Norwich's rescue with a last ditch block, deflecting the striker's shot over the crossbar.
