Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher is facing a late fitness test ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Chelsea at the Stadium of Light.

Fletcher hobbled off at half-time of last Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Norwich with an ankle problem and will be assessed later on Friday to determine his availability.

John O'Shea is another who will undergo a late test, but is the more likely to start, having trained this week following his calf injury.

Meanwhile, captain Lee Cattermole was ruled out for two months with damaged knee ligaments on Friday morning.

Blues boss Rafael Benitez will be desperate to secure his first league win in charge and his cause could be boosted by the return of stalwarts Frank Lampard and John Terry.

Lampard is the more likely to start, having trained with the squad this week following his calf issues. Club captain Terry, meanwhile, is nearing his return to training following knee surgery.

Daniel Sturridge is back in contention after his two-week absence and gives Benitez a possible goals return - something he has been sorely lacking.
