The Villans have not lost any of their last three Premier League matches, drawing 0-0 against Arsenal before beating Reading and then drawing again, this time to QPR.

Those results have helped ease Paul Lambert's relegation concerns, although the Midlands club are just two points above the bottom three after 15 league matches.

The Potters, though, will prove a huge hurdle to overcome, with Tony Pulis' side having won four of their previous five matches, drawing the other one.

That run has hoisted the Britannia Stadium outfit to ninth in the standings, just four points below the final European qualifying spot.

In team news, Villa continue to be without injured duo Richard Dunne and Ron Vlaar, while Charles N'Zogbia is also out with a knock.

Christian Benteke is set to retain his starting role up front at the expense of Darren Bent, while Lambert has no new injury concerns to deal with.

For Stoke, top-scorer Peter Crouch is set for a return after having teeth knocked out in their previous encounter against Newcastle, but Charlie Adam misses out through suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the season against West Brom.
