Lambert provoked the ire of the away fans when he appeared to handle the ball before putting the ball into the back of the net to score the opener.
And the 30-year-old denied that he intentionally meant to mislead the referee.
"I'm not sure exactly where it hit me but obviously I just carried on and put it in the back of the net. You've just got to play to the whistle," he said.
Lambert could not hide his frustration after his effort was cancelled out by Paul Snodgrass on the stroke of half-time to give the Canaries a share of the spoils.
He added: "I am definitely frustrated not to get the three points. I thought we played really well in the first half and I thought we were definitely going to win it.
"We've come in disappointed at half-time and felt we could have pushed on in the second half. We haven't managed to do that so I'm disappointed."
