Certain sections of the visiting crowd were heard singing anti-Semitic songs directed at the Spurs faithful, while police have already arrested two men in connection with the chants, one of which has been banned for life by the Hammers.

Israeli international Benayoun, who is on-loan at West Ham from Chelsea, admitted he was shocked by the incident, and has condemned the supporters for their actions.

"I have a great relationship with the West Ham United supporters, from my first spell at the club and again now I am back on loan here," Benayoun posted on Twitter.

"This why I was very disappointed to hear some of the songs and it was embarrassing."
