Both experienced England internationals have yet to sign new contracts at the West London club with their current deals set to expire at the end of the season.

And although Benitez admits he is unlikely to have a big say regarding their futures, the Spaniard believes the possibility of them leaving is not unlikely.

Asked if he thought the duo would depart Stamford Bridge, he said: "I think so. I don't have all the information and it's not fair to tell me I'm only here for seven months and then expect me to have an influence at the club over the next two or three years, but I think that's the case at the moment."

Both have served Chelsea admirably in long and distinguished careers.

Lampard, 34, has cemented himself in Blues' history as the club's third all-time leading goalscorer since his 2001 move from West Ham, while Cole, 31, has amassed just under 200 appearances for the club since joining from Arsenal in 2006.
