Benitez took over the reins at Stamford Bridge after the sudden sacking of Roberto Di Matteo, brought on by Tuesday's 3-0 loss at Juventus in the Champions League.

The European Cup holders aren't faring much better in the Premier League, either, their strong start to the domestic season a thing of the past as they've slipped to third on the standings.

City travel to west London at the top of the table, but on the back of a midweek draw with Real Madrid which ended their hopes in Europe's premier club competition.

Zabaleta believes Benitez may just be the man to right the ship for the Blues and the Citizens can ill-afford to take them lightly.

"It's a difficult moment for them but they now have a new manager in Rafa Benitez," he said.

"When they are in a moment like this, it might seem they are easier to play against, but a new manager can make old players fresh again.

"Benitez has experience in the Premier League so it will be a really tough game for us."
