Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has welcomed the prospect of Henry's return during the MLS off-season, with the French striker not ruling out the possibility, despite, the Metros proving to be reluctant in making the deal a possibility.

Speaking to Daily Star, club Sporting Director said: "In general terms, I wouldn't say it would be something we would favour. I think the length of the season we have here, when they get the break over the Christmas, New Year period, they need to regenerate themselves.

"I'd say in general we wouldn't be too positive about it."

He added that there had been no actual contact between the two clubs.

"Right now, no-one has requested for anyone to go on loan. It depends on the individual, it depends on the circumstances. You cannot say never on that one. But it's unlikely, at the moment, that would happen."

Henry trained with Arsenal during the previous MLS off-season and re-signed for the club on a two-month loan deal on 6 January 2012.

With the Premier League side struggling in the absence of Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh, who were unavailable due to their participation in the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, Wenger moved to sign Henry to provide some more firepower in attack.

Henry went on to make his second Arsenal debut as a substitute against Leeds United in the FA Cup third round and scored the only goal of the match. In his last league game on loan, Henry scored the winning goal in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 win against Sunderland.
