The Chelsea midfielder has been strongly tipped to follow former Blues team-mates Didier Drogba and Nicholas Anelka in making the move from England to Asia.
Roberto Di Matteo had rubbished weekend reports claiming Lampard had already signed with Renhe, but on Monday the club chairman claimed that talks over a possible switch have already begun.
"Yes, we are in contact with Lampard but so far nothing has been settled," Xiaoyu said.
If any deal is to materialise, the England international will only depart Stamford Bridge in January, which will give him plenty of time to adjust to his new surroundings, with China's top-flight league only resuming in March next year.
