Andre Villas-Boas has paid no mind to Didier Deschamps' unhappiness at the lack of game-time France's number-one Hugo Lloris gets at Tottenham.

Lloris was handed a rare start in Spurs' 3-1 win over Maribor in the Europa League on Thursday, although it may have been a night to forget for the French shot-stopper.

He failed to clear Kyle Naughton's backpass which lead to Robert Beric's equaliser just before half-time in the Group J clash at White Hart Lane.

Villas-Boas has favoured veteran Brad Friedel between the sticks for much of the season, opting to throw the odd cup match to Lloris.

This situation has not gone down well with Les Bleus coach Deschamps, who voiced his displeasure recently in the media.

"He (Lloris) does not have enough playing time," he said at a press conference.

"He plays one game per week in the Europa League. It is a situation that is cumbersome and not ideal. He is a competitor and he cannot simply play two or three matches."

But Villas-Boas has since responded to Deschamps' rant, saying: "It goes in one ear and comes out the other."

Meanwhile, the Portuguese tactician has defended his decision to use Lloris sparingly, as well as the 25-year-old's slip-up in midweek.

"Sometimes things like this happen," claimed Villas-Boas.

"It happened to us at Chelsea with Petr Cech last year. It's mistakes that make you evolve as a player and I have no problem with that.

"It could happen to any goalkeeper during any game. It will not affect my decision-making."
