Wayne Rooney believes Robin van Persie has already proved himself a talisman for Manchester United following his sublime contribution since joining at the beginning of the campaign.

The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal in the off-season and took his goal tally to 11 in 14 matches for his new club following his Champions League brace against Braga.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men currently top the Premier League standings by a point and will be looking to extend that lead when they travel to Aston Villa on Saturday, and ahead of the tie Rooney had nothing but praise for the club's new hitman.
"Of course everyone knows (Van Persie) is a fantastic player and he has a calmness about him - I think he's great for the whole team," the England international said.
"He's a talisman and if you can get players around him and feeding off him it's great for all of us; myself, Chicharito and all the midfield players as well.
"Last season at Arsenal was his best season in the Premier League goal-scoring wise (Van Persie scored 30 goals), and he has changed his game to play on the shoulder more, to get into better goal scoring positions.
"Obviously he's a great finisher but I think he's a lot stronger and can hold the ball up better than you would think. He's a fantastic player and he's great around the squad as well."
