In a bright opening to the first half at the Liberty Stadium, both sides threatened, although Fernando Torres had the best chance but saw his header cleared off the line.

After the first 10 minutes the game became more of a midfield battle, with both sides trying to dominate possession, though this resulted in a lack of clear cut chances as neither Gerhard Tremmel nor Petr Cech were called into action.

Chelsea started the second half brightly as they looked to get the win that would take them back above Manchester United at the summit, and they took the lead in the 61st minute when a powerful Gary Cahill header from a corner was flicked in by Victor Moses.

The Blues then sat back as they looked to close the game out, but they paid the price in the 87th minute when after some telling hold up play by Itay Shechter, Pablo Hernandez beat Petr Cech from distance with a super shot that found the bottom corner.

Swansea then looked for a winner in injury time but Danny Graham saw a shot blocked and Jonathan De Guzman failed to find a team-mate when well placed in the area.
