Holding down fourth spot on the Premiership table, Matsatsantsa trail league leaders Orlando Pirates by four points with two games to go in the season.
However, United face formidable opposition in their final league fixtures with Mamelodi Sundowns and Bloemfontein Celtic awaiting them over the coming weeks.
Gavin Hunt's side travel to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday where the in-form Brazilians will be licking their lips, a precursor for the Pretoria rivals' Nedbank Cup showdown on May 26.
Erasmus, though, is relishing the opportunity to not only upset Downs at the Orlando Stadium showpiece in two weeks time, but also in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
"We won our semi-finals in the Cup competition. For myself, it's a massive confidence boost and for the team too," the striker told the PSL's official website.
"We've always missed out on reaching a Cup final, so it feels good to finally be there. It's every player's dream to go and play in a final and it will be extra special if we come out tops. We've got all the confidence to go there and try and get it.
"For both clubs it would be massive to get the supporters down there for the final.
"We've got a big game next Saturday which we'll need to compete in and get three points, but when it (final) comes about we'll be looking forward to it."
After a rocky start to his 2011/12 campaign, Erasmus has been in a rich vein of form with two goals in his last three games.
The 21-year-old's latest strike came in a Man-of-the-Match performance in SuperSport's 3-0 semi-final win over AmaZulu this past Sunday.
"I was very pleased (with my performance)," the Bafana Bafana international added. "I think we battled well all the way through the game.
"We had to pick up our performance early on, which was a big part of the game today, and we also played some good football at times. AmaZulu did not make it easy for us, but we did what he had to do.
"Every game gives me a lot more confidence. All I can do now is keep going and try and show the coach and the fans what I'm capable of doing."
