The Team of Choice faced Usuthu at a hot and very humid Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday and on Wednesday have to do regeneration training, fly to Port Elizabeth on Thursday and then take on the Brazilians on Friday night.
Five days later they travel to Bethlehem to face the high-flying Free State Stars.
"It's intense. We back at training just working the tiredness off of last night and getting ready for the next match already," said Sheppard.
"Last night's game was a big test for us as AmaZulu came at us but we held on for a good point.
"For me it was great to get through 90 minutes, I've not played for a few months now so I feel good about my performance last night.
"But now we have to forget about that game and focus on Sundowns which is another tough test, but we're up to it."
Maritzburg are now fifth in the PSL table with 25 points, and defender Peter Petersen says they are happy with the outcome.
"It's always tough taking on AmaZulu and we are happy with the point. It was very hot there last night but we got through it," he revealed.
"Now we back at training stretching our legs and getting focused for Sundowns."
Kick-off for Friday's clash is at 8pm at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
